This course covers basic template structure and styling with a review of default fields, how to configure them and how to add new ones. We’ll also cover some of the ways eMuseum exposes APIs, handles Search Engine Optimization (SEO), manages Linked Open Data and filtering results.

*This course is best for people with a basic understanding of HTML and/or CSS. Knowledge of SQL and XML are a bonus.

Preparatory materials will be handed out before the class. Bring your questions.

• You will gain an understanding of the eMuseum structure and a basic understanding of how to modify and style page and component templates.

• You will understand what drives eMuseums field configuration and learn how to manipulate the fields in each view, and how to add new fields.

• You will gain a better understanding of how eMuseum can provide machine readable APIs and data in a Linked Open format.


A laptop is required for this course. You may use your own laptop, provided:

  • You have local administrators' rights on your laptop.

  • Your laptop is equipped with an up-to-date web browser (IE9+, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera, etc.)
